When things go dark
When everything turns dark and we can’t see our way up or out. He is my Help!! I’m a Lazarus. I guess I should say I was a Lazarus. When everything turned dark and he could not do a thing for himself, Jesus came near. I bet you’re saying the same thing! There were things that happened beyond my control, beyond what I would’ve wanted to take place! I was in a dark pit that no normal ladder could have done it- to get me out. I didn’t see a way out. Of defeat. Any of our human ladders would have been swallowed up. By the pit I was in.…

“Wish Me Luck”
People say this a lot. They say it to me. What’s my response? Should we blame it all on God? Should we chalk it all up to luck? I don’t go by luck. I go by a belief system that I know works. Because if we say we’re lucky, who’s getting praised for it? Us. If we say we are unlucky, who’s getting the downside of that? Us. When we say we are wishing for what we’ve asked for. (John 15:7-8 ESV) That’s biblical. That’s specific. That’s expectant. Woah me “wins”? Wish me well. Wish me a great future. But don’t wish me luck… Luck comes and goes and blows…

IT’S ON THE WAY
“Your dream has an appointed time and God always has victory in store for you.” – Lisa Comes “I have been through many hard times in my life too. What you must focus on now is that what you are going through is subject to change. Hold on and have faith in God, because your answer is on the way!” What are you planning on? In her book: It’s On The Way, Lisa says to set your faith for victory, and plan on winning the battle you are in. Plan on your dreams coming to pass, plan on God fulfilling His promises in your life, and plan on God’s faithfulness…

Afraid of being noticed
Can we get in the middle of being “scared to be seen” and “becoming completely unafraid of being noticed”? Could we now lean to the healthy latter end? Of course we can… Over the years since entering into ministry, Derek- my husband- had to work pretty hard at getting me back to wearing more uplifting colors and patterns. Now I love it, but back two decades ago, I had a bland looking closet attire. (Also considering the repeated lie that black hid everything! Though it can be a great choice, it does not hide shame or insecurities.) I had grown to like the safe neutrals for several reasons. Not just…

Glitches and Cancellations
The enemy has always wanted to cancel us out. From the beginning. Throughout our lives, and even til the end. But God keeps on coming through for us! We think we won’t make it out of all the problems and then here comes another way to combat what we are facing. Deuteronomy 28:7 “The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before you. They shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.” What’s really been “glitched” is Satan’s beginning position. Sparks were literally flying! He fell like lightening. He was stopped from being successful in his tactics. It’s the rise…

New Life Levels
Are you living with the faith that wins over fear, worry, and doubts? About your life, your health, your goals, and dreams? When we can put these things behind us, we can move FWD!! Doubts about who you are and what your life will come to be, worry over your body and things that aren’t good or right, fear in not reaching your goals or accomplishing the dreams that’s been put inside… all of this adds up to loss and lack. It leaves us with a worn down spirit. But when we let the Words of Life flow through our veins, our relationships, and our living room- when we repeat…

Release your grip. Part 2!
“The Father loves the Son & has placed everything in his hands.” -John 3:35 How can we release our grip? The struggle is real when we don’t give it (the problem, the issue, the thing) up. Release wins a battle!! Open fisted. Remember, when we participate in strife, we will lose. But since the Father placed everything in the Son’s hands because of His love for Him, we ought to find that love and trust for Christ also. You may as well hand it over. Take a moment. In silence. In subjection. I often in prayer, lift my hands to Him to make sure I don’t keep in my hands what’s suppose to stay in…

Release your grip. Part 1!
“To Do Va Estar Bien. Everything will be Alright.” -Song by Danny Gokey. “It’s out of my hands.” -Song by Jeremy Camp. When we keep things in our hands and don’t want to give it up to Jesus, it is a refusal. It eventually ends up looking like a balled up fist. A point of strife! When we refuse to worship God… I sense the Spirit of God saying this: Worship is right here at our fingertips and strife is right there too. We can choose to give God control. Or. We can choose strife… when we choose the latter, that’s the point where anger explodes- That’s when we make…

When I can’t
What song will you sing while you’re grieving something or someone? Big Daddy Weave’s new song All things new, has been on my mind and it’s the song I’m singing lately. As I do, a picture of Mike and Jay Weaver goes through my heart. When we first started ministry, they (along with their team) were our Worship leaders in Youth services. We knew that they’d go places with those big voices and all that talent. Jay Weaver recently passed due to Covid after he lost his leg with the struggle of diabetes. So as I hear the music of this precious song begin, I make it a prayer. I…

Sand or Cement
Sand or Cement? Crash or Christ? Soft or Solid? I say “cement” because that’s what most people view as super hard, durable, and lasting. There are different mixtures and techniques to use with making cement. The truth is, Christ is Rock. (Psalm 18:2 My God is my rock.) Unlike us, there are no air bubbles in Him that will become weak points during strength tests because He is the strongest type of rock. He is strong for us. When we aren’t holding up, He is Bedrock. Unwavering. Unmoved. Unchangeable because there is nothing in Him that needs changing. My Dad always says when tough times come, you find out who…
