Heaven is open
You really don’t always know what heroes of the faith go through. But I live with one. He still needs an open heaven to send his prayers to. Because…There aren’t any flashy bright outfits with capes. And often times, his family knows this best. They try very hard not to have great needs because there are so many who do, surrounding us. And. Heroes need a Hero too! We turn to our Jesus. When Hell attacks. He’s the One that doesn’t need the power company to turn the lights back on or to be the Light of my world, or your world. Anyone who’s married knows the lights can dim…

Power Shortage
Have you ever experienced a major power outage? Unexpectedly, the electricity service goes out… Personal Story: I was blind and now I see. I turned completely in the direction of Jesus. Became apart of the church. Met a cute guy. Got married… but when we’re looking at the “better” of one another, we’re not yet seeing the “worse”. I found myself crying out for mercy! Often. I would feel like I kept losing the vision God gave us because it was too hard to see. Especially when the power was cut off. I was taking care of three little guys and Derek had a lot he was responsible for too,…

The Overcomer of Discouragement
We have an overcomer at our side. The Lord, He succeeds in dealing with or gaining control of some problem or difficulty. He’s a Voice and Advocate for us in extreme moments that last longer than we anticipated or when we have lost our footing for a minute and just need the security of His presence. Nine years ago, Mandisa came out with a song: “Overcomer.” I was driving on a road that had a lot of hills and I was thinking through our lives of ups and downs as I saw my three handsome and active boys in the back seat. I started singing this song to the top…

The Pile Up of Discouragement
Have you ever felt like you’re doing more things right than you have ever done, but more of the wrong things are happening to you than ever before? …And it’s like they’re not just happening. They are stacking up against you as a burial site or something. In my head as I saw the list of costly repairs to our vehicle along with the Christmas list and the camper renovation list and the house update list, I started feeling discouraged. On top of these things were dental appt.’s and doctor check ups, a much needed car cleaning, and some family needs. There were deadlines and pending dates that we had…

LEAD BY LIGHT -Part 2
After five funerals and another death within two weeks due to Covid, I was up throughout the night thinking about the families we grieved with. (Most of them had been a big part of our ministry through the years and great friends to Derek. Four of those amazing men are forever in our minds. Different ages and living in different places, we would have never expected them to pass within the same time frame. Curtis, Julian, Christian, and Keith! They were Light leaders. Unafraid of darkness. This was what they all had in common: Each of them were evangelistic in the most unique and effective ways. I can only believe…

In the pressing
One night when I got up to pray, there were some things I didn’t understand. At all. But as I started praying, God started saying… “I allow the pressing. I press you to be your best.” Hence Heb. 12:10. “I don’t press you like the enemy does, where he traps and kills. I press you to be your best. I know what’s in you, I know what you can do, and what you are capable of. In the crushing, I’m making new wine. Be resilient. You’ll see everything coming your way during this time- every obstacle coming at you. In this trial. But you will stand blessed beyond any curse.…
