Is faithfulness a place? (2!)
Faithful can be a place within us where we’ve made a decision to trust and trust and trust.
Dwell there with God. How many times have we been in a place of doubt and it was truly a place we would describe as sad, limited, and confusing…? But faith kicked in and brought certainty again. Faith stands the tests and refuses to be run off the land! Our land of faithfulness has promises! Though layered with peace, places where the faithful reside can be a mixture sometimes of unease and unrest. These places are not absent of occasional problems and impatience. Pain is present at times. Tension often visits. But being faithful is to push onward even when you feel uncertain, weary, troubled.
God’s forever faithful, which means He rushes to the unfaithful places of hurt with us too. He shows up in our insecurities, fights, dissatisfactions, disorders, differences, and our attacks. Where we’ve been lied to, deceived, and unprotected. When someone has been unfaithful and nobody wants to be there with them because it’s just too hard, God can still handle the terrain. (Luke 3:5). The rocks, rough places, slopes, and slants can be made smooth. He’s the only One I know of that can turn a disaster into an eruption of faithfulness.
We can build a life in and around God’s faithfulness. It’s so cool to find out about Old Faithful, Yellowstone National Park’s Famous Geyser. (A hot spring in which water intermittently boils, sending a tall column of water and steam into the air when it’s under pressure. It is a “vent” in the earth’s surface! Geysers can provide heat for homes and factories, etc. in addition to generating power.) It’s named for its frequent and somewhat predictable eruptions, which number more than a million since Yellowstone became the world’s first national park in 1872. All activities are based around Old Faithful erupting. Eruptions last from 1.5 to 5 min. and varies in height. It has around 4 million visitors per year and expels 3,700 to 8,400 gallons of water each time it erupts! People plan vacations to see Old Faithful because they know about every 90 min., it will erupt again. And again. And again. What a neat place to go. What a sight to see. People will come from all over to see God’s faithfulness. When we become a place for faithfulness to dwell and erupt from us, our lives and family will also be a sight to see.
