Elaborate Gifts

My husband thinks I deserve elaborate gifts; I’m not so sure I do but I receive them anyway! In the beginning of our marriage, it was difficult for me to reason with him about this. However, even recently, I could tell that Derek took great care in advance, to carry out his planned surprises for me. Many of his presents are just because.

Not really “entitled”, a man named Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10) accepted the great gift of Jesus coming over to his house and bringing salvation with Him. Zacchaeus “ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see Jesus.” Then “he came down at once and welcomed Him gladly.” When we receive Jesus in our hearts, we are accepting salvation. (Rom. 10:1-13) Through Him, we have a right to this gift. “He bestows His riches on all who call on Him.” Jesus is elaborate with His giving!!! His generosity includes all types of blessings. Healing is included.

As I mentioned, Derek gets me things. (Plants from Lowes, shoes, furniture, etc. The bike was one of my favorites and I wear the earrings all the time. Every year at Christmas, he picks out a different wallet and puts gift cards in it from a variety of clothing stores. Then we take a shopping trip together and eat lunch! I always appreciate a good meal) 🙂 At times, he brings expensive items home to me. Sometimes I keep them a little while and then give them away. It’s exciting to pass things along to people who haven’t done anything in particular to receive them but they joyfully welcome the gifts! Jesus has quality time to share with you. Blessings upon blessings are in store...things you want but wouldn’t dream of getting for yourself. His riches and His goodness can fill you life.

Would you climb a tree in front of others, to be sure not to miss seeing Jesus? Zacchaeus’ quick reaction to climb above the crowd, due to having a short stature, caused him to gain a highly valuable gift that day. His desire was seen. Jesus recognized Him. The most incredible gift came to his house. Don’t think that something carefully arranged, intricately detailed, elaborately prepared, designed and planned out, cannot happen for you. Jesus knows you exist. He sees you trying to see Him. Open your life to His visitations. One visit from Jesus can bring out the best in us and blessings for others. Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.” Elaborate!
