A Pour-Over
Do you know what happens when God pours out His Spirit?
It gets you going again! Coffee gets a lot of people going every day and like me, I’m sure you’ve heard about “pour overs.” I don’t know everything there is to know about them because I’m not a coffee drinker, though I love the smell of it. However, I do know that a filter is involved and there is a period of time that it needs to sit and soak. When God’s Spirit settles in us, toxic things begin to come out and the flavor of life settles in. You don’t want to stay the same. His Spirit makes us want to go beyond where we’ve been, who we’ve been, and what we’ve had. Paul said in 1 Tim. 1:14 that “the grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.” We can go beyond… what we’ve known, what we’ve been, and what we’ve had.
When God starts pouring, you don’t want to be held back anymore. It rejuvinates our soul. People start prophesying, people start dreaming dreams, people start seeing new visions. For themselves but also for others.
When I read the verses (Joel 2:28, Acts 2:17) about God pouring out His Spirit on all flesh, our sons and daughters prophesying, our young men seeing visions, and our old men dreaming dreams… I do this:
I start saying aloud “I will prophesy. As God inspires me. And I’ll dream big things. We will dream! And we will envision things for our family. We will get a vision! We will pursue it. We will see it come to pass, in Jesus’ name.”
Courage Question: Do you want this kind of pour-over?
WHAT TO PRAY FOR: Pray for your words to help change lives through prophesy. That your dreams will help change lives through not being afraid of dreaming them. That your visions will help change lives through others seeing them. Pray to the Lord: We need a pour over. Help us to run on full power as You pour over us. Amen!
