The Abundance Mind-Set

Don’t pull yourself down anymore.

Joel assures us there are going to be seasons of testing and proving. Chapter 3 challenged me to continue upgrading my expectations. This is what you’ll need to do too, if you’re wanting a better future. He says: “Your expectation is your faith at work…don’t expect to be overcome. Expect to be the overcomer…pay attention to what you are expecting.”

Expect good things!

“One definition of hope is happy anticipation of something good…”If you’re not anticipating anything good, then you’ll drag through life with no passion.”

Add some things to my life Lord.

Near the end of his book, Joel gives us a key of what makes us a magnet for God’s favor. Talent, ability, and hard work is just part of it but the main key is honoring God. He shares this statement that I know will change the life course of those that believe it’s truth: “He will present you with opportunities that will thrust you into a new level of your destiny.”

My circumstances make new possibilities. Chances for advancement are approaching me now. When God is first in my life, I progress.

“Flowing means it didn’t stop. It never ran out. It continued to have an abundance. That’s where God is taking you.” This is where Pastor Joel explains (back in chapter one) what it means for the Promised Land to be called “the land flowing with milk and honey.”

Though I don’t yet see the signs of the degree of abundance that’s imbedded in my spirit, I know it is coming.

Paul, Joel Osteen’s brother, is a surgeon who operates on needy people in Africa. “In the middle of the night on one occasion, a young man came into the clinic who had been gored by and elephant tusk, right through his midsection. There was no blood in the supply to replenish the man, so Paul took thirty minutes and gave his blood before operating! After the operation, he replenished the blood the man had lost with his own blood. He became a miracle.” I believe miracles still happen!! How can we become a miracle for someone else? How can you pursue an abundant mind-set? If you are looking for a life that is bigger than what you are currently living, I recommend this book.
