Focus

Fix my Focus

When it’s Winter time and the Spring clothing line emails start coming in…fix my focus. When plenty of issues surround my family and then report cards show up in the mail box…fix my focus. When the clutter doesn’t clean up fast enough and unknown boxes just got delivered to my front door…fix my focus!

The things right in front of our faces get all the attention! And they pop up out of nowhere. Everywhere. They jump in front of everything and everyone else. They become our focus. Transient things move around. They don’t stay a long time so we think we have to deal with it all at this very moment.

It will pass. It’s short lived. “The sale is here and now!” Suddenly we end up participating, not wanting to miss anything temporary. There will always be pop ups. We’ll have to choose what’s priority. Some things are not absolutely necessary. 2 Cor. 4:16-18 says “So we do not lose heart…as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things unseen. For the things seen are transient but the things unseen are eternal.”

Today our focus could easily be set on politics or problems, food or famines, lack or logistics. Because our tomorrows are unseen today, sometimes our concentration is off. The central point of our attention and interests should be carefully thought about. Our first point of concentration should be something indispensable. He is Christ. Having Him as the center, fixes our focus no matter how out of whack we get. He is valid for all time. Without end. Lasting and existing forever. God’s Word and His ways are here to save the day. You don’t have to do it all! Say it with me! “Fix my focus!”
